YotaBio, as an innovative R&D-driven company, has established a R&D team headed by the top international biotech experts, with Ph.D., M.A., senior engineers and engineers as the main research team member, and the state of the art technologies like gene, protein, fermentation, separation & purification has been applied in the R&D, production and application of the biological food additives, in this way to improve and upgrade the technical level of the company's existing products, and keep the market competitiveness of the products.
In December 2015, the company hired Dr. Carlos G. Borroto, a former senior FAO scientist and the vice president of the Cuban Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), as its chief R&D consultant to provide most up-to-date biotechnology information support to the company.
Established in September 2016, the R&D center of the company is a private non-enterprise unit registered independently at 99 West Shenzhen Road, RETDA, which was jointly established by YotaBio and the Administration Committee of Rizhao Economic and Technological Development Area (RETDA), Qilu University of Technology and the chief R&D consultant. After nearly one year's construction, the center was put into operation in July 2017.
The R&D center covers a land area of 3000 square meters, with a total investment of RMB 18 million Yuan, including four platforms as molecular biology, process optimization, pilot production scale up and analysis.There are more than 20 R&D personnel, including 2 foreign academicians, 14 senior and middle-level professionals,
16 of master's degree or above. They cover the fields and directions of microbiology, biotechnology, biochemical industry, chemical analysis and other disciplines. There
are many first-line brand equipments at home and abroad, of which the imported equipment accounts for more than 60% of the main equipment. These talents and
equipment have laid the foundation for the development of scientific research works.
The R&D team is headed by Dr. Orlando Borras Hidalgo, a full-time foreign biotech expert and the specialist of the National 1000 Talents Plan (The Recruitment Program for Foreign Experts) in China. At the end of 2017, The R&D Center has been approved as a "Shandong Academician Workstation" by the Science & Technology Department of Shandong province.
Taking advantage of the academician workstation, the R&D center is specialized in the research and development of new strains, new processes and new products for biological food additives, which provides a strong guarantee for the company to update its technology and maintain the market competitiveness.
